The essential oil of red thyme (thymus vulgaris)  has a powerful aroma, a woody, medicinal scent described as both clean and warming. Red thyme essential oil is a general stimulant. In therapy it is used as a muscle relaxant for its anti-spasmodic properties because it acts on the central nervous system. It is recognized for its “pain-relieving balm” action.

Given its effects on the joints, red thyme essential oil is of great help to athletes and the elderly. This essential oil can be used in the composition of an aromatic preparation to relieve painful joints, avoid excessive chilliness (foot massage for example), prevent an ENT infection in winter, etc.
